Main Characters

Gao (pronounced Gow) Gao was created to be the main character of a comic strip but desires a normal(ish) life. He saved the world once. He is a generally nice guy, except when interacting with Ai. They're best friends, which is why they abuse each other. He is engaged to Xi, and part owner of a diner along with her and Ai. He is based on the Chinese character for tall.

Xi(pronounced She) Xi is a normal person, more or less, who is engaged to Gao. The comic strip characters have landed in her world and she is their guide of sorts. She is a senior in college and part owner in the diner. She is sweet and helpful, and generally capable--but also trained by her kickboxer father. She is based on the chinese character xi, the first syllable of the word xihuan, to like. (Chosen for its shape)

Ai: (pronounced Eye) Ai was created along with Gao to be in a comic strip. He's generally annoying to those around him and verges on the childishly simple at times, although it may just be a ruse to get on people's nerves, since he's built a battle-mech before. He doesn't mean to be a pain, he just gets bored and distracted. He bought the diner where Xi used to work. He is based on the Chinese character for 'mugwort.' (Ai is my surname for Chinese class.)

Kevin: Kevin is an alien photosynthetic slug from a culture of all-male coffee worshippers . An accident in his youth left him a floating head. He is gay by human standards and is dating Yuan and trying to help raise Connor. He is a skeptic and sometimes condescending, but generally a good guy, unable to desert Gao and Ai despite the troubles they cause him.

Yuan (Pronounced You - On): Yuan is a gay man with an attraction to aliens. He has a son from a previous marriage to a rather nasty female alien (now deceased) before he came out. He is afflicted with punchline syndrome, which makes him think of inappropriate comments whether he likes it or not, but he has trained himself not to give in. Much. He lives with Kevin and Connor. He is based on the Chinese character yuan, which is attached to a sort of work to make the word for someone who does that work.

Connor Connor is Yuan's half-alien son with the ability to alter his own genetic code. He's a rather brilliant 8. He gets along surprisingly well with Kevin. His form is based on Yuan and Kevin's combined.

Important Others

Duck: The duck is a poorly-drawn chair that morphed into an orange duck under the power of comic literalism. He says "Quack." That's about all there is to him. He is in some kind of avian relationship with Wa, living with her in Gao and Ai's apartment, and they recently had several baby 'gucks' as well as adopting two sentient computers.

Wa Wan: Wa is a goose. She is pair-bonded to the duck. Like all Canadian geese in the Gao universe, she is sentient and speaks English. Her brother is the deposed king of geese, now imprisoned for his crimes, which makes her oldest son Wei Wan the new King, although he has yet to take the throne

The Gucks The gucks are Wa and Duck's children. They are Wei Wan (the oldest) Magoo William Wan, Carmen Nancy Wan(these three are the actual goose-duck hybrids), Four (an old, egg-style iMac that hatched into an iDragon) and Beverly (a sentient "new-style" iMac). They serve no purpose but excessive cuteness.

Daphne Daphne is a short-order cook/witch. She was training under the wizard Draco until his death, and she's taken over his job at the diner. She has a short temper and a real knack for turning people into chickens, never a happy combination. She has a magic hat which is slowly turning her into a wraith. Daphne is based on the Chinese character for cauldron, which is pronounced li. Daphne is her mystic witch-name, I guess.

Incidental Text: Incidental Text is a sort of stage manager for the comic. He is not an avatar or anything, and his information may not be complete. He turns up in the unpopular meta-strips, generally when I need to patch things up in the plot or continuity.
